seized ML280 CDI, swap engine or rebuild?
Hi, thanks for reading this post.
I am offered to buy a ML280 CDI with siezed OM642 diesel V6, the owner told me his mechanic did a rebuild and just few minutes after startup, the engine seized again, beside of price I might offer him, I am more concern about IF I buy this car, I have three option:
1- rebuild the om642
2- buy a used om642.
3- swap in a M272.
or just walk away

From your profile - i dont know what country you are in. Since the ml280 never really arrived in the US - Im guessing you are in a country that has more sources of OM642 parts. So I would say stay with what you have. The diesel to gas or visa-versa is really too much trouble (at least for me). Unless of course you have a totalled gasser just sitting there. In some countries - you might have all the cheap labor and know-how so Ill leave others to chime in.
