Yes you are correct.
2007-2008 are called GL320CDI
2009 onward are GL320 and say "Bluetec" on the right rear or on the front fender.
The easiest way to tell if a specific car has Bluetec (urea) or not is to look at the spare tire.
GL320CDI from 2007-2008 had a spare tire. Bluetec ones from 2009 onward had the spare replaced with a DEF tank.
If you are going to be towing at all, you want a 2007 or 2008 because if a runflat goes flat, you can't keep driving on it if you are towing, so you'll be stranded. The runflats are not that common so if you're in a little town it may have to be ordered. Also no heater/tank/DEF/controller/pump to mess with or have fail!
Having said that the 2009 onward is basically the same truck and they are just as great. If you find a 2009 in great condition don't pass it up simply because of Bluetec. If you are comparing two identical trucks, then yes, go for the non-Bluetec one.
