For awhile now, we've been hearing subtle "squeaky floors'-type noises when hitting bumps in the road. Then noticed that the glaze on the wooden part of center console/dashboard between the radio display and the ashtray got cracks. Finally yesterday we noticed a sizable gap, about half an inch, between the ashtray and the rest of console right above it. What is going on?

I am sure that after posting you observation you plan on visiting an MB dealer who do doubt will share your concerns and have an answer--if not my WAG is that you have a sagging center console caused by poor factory fitment!!

I cant see how the centre console can sag. Unless the floor is giving away.


The other possibility is the dash has somewhat moved up.


Look at the edges of the dash and along the windshield at how the fitment looks.
