Tail gate will not close /open using remote key and it will close and latch only using the switch at driver's door . Sometimes even using the switch at driver's door immediately after it was latched it will unlatched and open again. The switch at the tailgate can unlatched and open the door manually however the tailgate does not latch causing the battery charge to be drain completely overnight.

You probably had rain water entry which collected in the spare tire holding area. Remove everything, including the mat and check for water damage.
