Hey guys,

Our 2010 ML has a problem: the tailgate won't open. When the "open" button is pulled, the tailgate mechanism motor runs for a few seconds but the tailgate doesn't raise.

Has anyone else heard of this or better yet, know what would cause it to stop working? Any suggestions?

Does it work with the rear hatch button? I've had mine not work, then opened and closed the tailgate by either remote or button and it worked fine after that.


Failing that the latch button on the door might be pooched!

I had the same issue once,
I was able to open from inside, You can fold rear seats and there is a small cover on the inner side of trunk door.
You can pry it with a flat head screw driver, there will be a small manual switch to open the trunk.
