AC not blowing cold..

AC not blowing cold..

Ok let's see if this is something I can fix or should I take to a technician...

Here's the problem the AC in my 2007 ML350 stop blowing cold all of a sudden so I figured most systems loose about 2 ounces of refrigerant a year so 2007 it was prob just low so I hook up a gauge to the low pressure side and it's saying it's over pressed. I never put in any refrigerant and it was working fine all these years so don't see how it could be over pressure. It has a compressor that doesn't have a clutch on it so it's always on when I turn off the AC button you can see the pressure gauge spike high meaning the compressor or something turns off then when I turn the AC back on the gauge goes a lot lower but still in the over press range but the needle is also throbbing a little up into the yellow marker then back into the over press red. When I turn on the AC also the electric fan motor that cools the engine comes on so that's not a problem and the heat works also.. where should I start?

Awesome.

Thanks I'll have to get a good pressure gauge and try this tomm. All I have is the low pressure side gauge.

A.c. with gauges

I just put a good working set of gauges on it and the low side throbbing between 50-60 and the high side 110

Also the high side stays at 110 solid with the compressor running or with the AC button off which I'm leaning towards a fuse or switch not actually turning the system on since it's a clutchless compressor..

What if the car doesn't have any check engine lights on will there still be a code in there?

The answer is yes. The CEL will only come on because of Eng., Trans., ESP. problems.
