2010 ml350 bluetec
ML350 Bluetec EGR Valve
Just got my first CEL in almost 8 years of ownership and it appears that my EGR valve needs to be cleaned/replaced. Curious if others have tried to clean first instead of replacement? I have done searches here an on google and have not found a good DIY. Can anyone help please. Thank you in advance for your time.

I keep having the intermittent code of p0401. Vehicle seems to be running well at idle and there is no hesitation with acceleration. Really no symptoms other than the CEL.

Your truck does not have "P" codes assigned to it. What is the description of this code? You must be using a cheap code reader.

Yes you are correct, I typically work on Porsche vehicles and use a durametric to pull codes/test but this is my wife's vehicle and borrowed a cheap code reader from my neighbor. My local indy charges 150 to pull a code so was hoping to avoid the charge

But what is the description of the code, EGR what? Are there any other codes?

Took it to my indy friend and we were able to diagnose a bad EGR solenoid, he had a replacement in stock so we went ahead and took care of it late last night. Not as easy of a job as I had hoped for but its done. Thank you for the replies.
