W164 Insanity!
So my girl does not want to give up on her 06 ML350. No way.
So now in the 2nd week of 3 weeks of repairs.
New Balance shaft, intake manifold, power steering pump and rack,
and on my suggestion, since she's at 175K miles, rebuild the alternator and starter
while we're at it and the engine is out and extra $400 in parts but no labor.
Total is gonna be about 6 grand....
I told she outta donate it, and take the write off, and buy a newer vehicle,
but oh well, it's her car and her money, so wtf!
She's gonna have to give up the '18 Hemi Dodge challenger she's been renting now for months,
but at a really good price, only $611 a month total. I don't think a lease could be any cheaper.
The ML needs other stuff too, shocks are gone, transmission questionable,
no changing her mind. ON the bright side it does a brand new set of Michelins on it.
The hard part will be that it's already 6 months past being due for smog and registration which in Cali means a tow from the police if they catch you.
So 1st stop will be to a smog shop to fail the smog to get a 2 month extension to drive it long enough to get the OBD readiness indicators set.

Well, it's going to be back to perfect running condition.
Not sure how many people would do such a thing,
just sharing...see how it all goes.

Passed smog, got the tags.
Negotiated a cash discount, picking up the cash today.
Went by, and started it up...
wow...it has NEVER sounded this good.
Like a freakin' swiss watch. Smooth like a baby's butt!
In the end, I think it's been worth it vs. replacement.
Detailer did great job looks new.
Photo's will be posted.

Yup, just drove it about 500 miles this weekend, touring the Sierra gold country.
It's never run better. Sooo quiet, everything works, whereas before there was a long list of issues.
Almost like having a new car. Mechanic even sent it out to be detailed.
And a front end alignment. Brand new Michelins all the way around purchased just prior to it's being parked
for 6 months, and then repaired.
