2008 ml320 cdi 2510-001 actuator
i have just purchased a 2008 ml320 cdi it currently has a engine code of p2510-001 which i believe is the boost pressure regulator. Vehicle is in limp mode and is not making boost. The old owner has told me a mechanic said it needs a new turbo. I have not pulled it apart yet to visually inspect the turbo. Just looking for any other tips you veterans may have. This is my first Mercedes but not my first turbo diesel vehicle. Vehicle has 182,000 km in it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I think it’s the turbo actuator from what I gathered on this forum which is not sold separately. Was going to pull off and inspect it. Just looking for desperate opinions.

Out Of Control!!
I can't confirm this, but it may be worth the time if in fact it is the actuator-------I have seen pictures of rebuilt actuators by a couple of German companies, the problem was matching the actuator to the turbo as there is no cross reference chart.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Without your vin #, the positioner is part of the turbo and is not sold separately. And it costs approx. $3,700.

It is 100% the actuator connections that commonly tend to disconnect from the circuit board. I took it off and had a look they were complete separated. I didn’t have silver solder to solder and I also have no experience soldering so I’ll have to find someone capable of it that will do a good job. I just pushed the connections back where the are supposed to go and the turbo started working perfectly. Once the vehicle got up to temp I assume the metal expanded and stopped making contact so the turbo stopped working again.
At least I know what the problem is. Does anyone have any tips for soldering or have another solution on how to attach those points? I brought it to an electronic repair place and they said the wouldn’t touch it cause it needed to be silver soldered...

MB uses silver solder because the location of the actuator is subject to high heat from the turbo. However silver solder is more brittle than lead based solder, resulting in the failures.
You can just use normal solder, but be sure to scrape the silver solder from the pads first or it wont stick. I used a Dremel to prepare mine.
Given you have no experience in soldering and this is a very expensive part to get wrong, just take it to your local electronics repair shop and they will assist you for a small cost.

Well i took it a tv repair man and he said it was silver soldered and there was nothing he could do. So I took your advice and ground off the silver with a dremel and soldered it back by myself. Now my turbo is boosting. Just need to clear the code or just let it clear itself. .

Yes you will need to clear the code. If you don't have a "proper" code reader, you can use a $20 ELM27 adaptor off Ebay with your phone to clear it.
