wipers

Hi have a 2007 ML the front wipers don't operate
But if you turn them on and pull the wiper arms to work you can move them through a sweep
if you turn wiper stalk off they will not move which is write
I tried to read codes with some software but it can only access the engine and stability system all other systems wont communicate with it
Could this be a fault with the front SAM unit
indicators electric windows all work fine
thanks

If you can move the wiper arms by hand, then the wiper transmission is faulty. See if anything popped off.

I removed the motor and it’s free put motor back on
turned wipers ON they didb1 cycle perfect then nothing
I am thinking either power issue hence why I could move them by hand when turned ON as if not enough power to push motor
could it be a SAM or relay problem ??

Under no circumstances should you be able to manually move the wiper arms, so it is not a power issue. It is the wiper motor or the transmission arms that get attached to it.

I really don't want to disagree with you because I need your help
please think of it this way if you have a slow electric window you can help it up or down with your hands if someone presses the window button
this is the same but its a wiper motor its as if its seized but its not it just needs a kick ie a pull to work through its sweep

Yes I agree. That is why I said it could be the motor.

Do you know where front SAM is its not by the battery under drivers seat
There is a unit there but it just has a few fuses I thought front and rear SAM units looked similar

It's right next to the battery.
