Front Passenger Power Door Lock not working:
(NOTE: Cross posted from the GL X164 forum to get a wider view. Parts and operation (and problems) are the same)
2008 GL320 Front Passenger Power Door Lock not working:
Just recently the electric/power door lock on the passenger front door stopped working.
The lock mechanism works fine in all other ways.
Occasionally the door will unlock, but it never locks.
1) Anyone have similar symptoms, and fix it?
2) How hard (and are there are tricks) to pulling the interior door panel off?

Hi, I had the same problem on my driver side door lock. From what I read It was the door lock actuator that went out. I was going to do it myself, but I kept reading it’s a PITA. I got the replacement part online pretty cheaply- I think less than $150 or $200. I had an independent shop swap it out for another $100 or $150.

I have had cars that are easy to work inside the doors, and some that warn you never to try.
Hoping this one is not too bad.

If all the doors were unlocked, and you used the fob, do all doors lock every time?
Do all door lock after 9 MPH?
Is the problem only with the pass. switch or is it with the driver's switch or both?
Look at and read the items bracketed in red and remove the pass. door lock switch and have a look see.

All electrical locking and unlocking works exactly as intended on all doors except the Passenger (right) front does not lock (and only occasionally unlocks) when electrically activated, no matter what teh source. (on door switch, Drivers Door Switch, Remote, etc.)
Those instructions don't seem too bad.
Not as easy as an Audi A6, but better than a Touarg

I don't know what you intend to find by removing the liner because the door lock mechanism is basically hidden. Here are the instructions.

From videos of other MB cars, is this riveted to the door frame?
Do you have instructions for Step 1: Remove door module (2): AR72.10-P-0900GZ

I do not have that that problem.
Mine seems a little like the symptom some have when working on the door, that if the inner trim is not installed teh door sense switch will not allow the remote lock to work, however this should not affect "unlocking".
My best guess is either the solenoid is sticky or weak.
