Vehicle not in P drive to workshop

Vehicle not in P drive to workshop
Hi
I own a 2006 Ml320 CDI W164. On two occassions now the above message has popped up on my dash.
I get the car into neutral.switch off,remove key and restart and everything normal after that.
I dont have Star so cannot get fault codes. I have read on the forum of other people have similar issues but cannot pick up what the actual repair or cause is.
Any help will be appreciated.
