I just wanted to know as the bi-xenons are expensive new and hard to find used. I would change both.

Mine has H7 bulbs instead of xenons. They were a really expensive option over here. You'd have to re-wire away with the ballast units and maybe do some coding on Star.

Yes, I have the same setup but I think, and I could be wrong, he is asking about the headlamps themselves. I wonder if they were damaged?

Yes you can, but you'll likely need to tell the computer system about it with your special tool.
For those without experience ...
My GL with halogen lighting ugraded to +100% H7s has better night lighting than the HID lighting in my CL. It could be because the latter is clutterdd up with night vision but anyway that's the reality.

On my W203 I set Bixenon to present far in advance of
installing. The ECU in that car at least, only cares going from Halogen to
Bix as Bix uses 35 watts and Halogen 55w (stock)
So, it thinks there is a problem too little power being drawn,
turns the headlights off and then on, repeat so they end up flashing.
Point being, I knew that I would be getting Bix at some point, and
had the opportunity to have local indy to do the coding for the ECU to "Present'
with the halogen still installed and no issues. I replaced a BIOS battery in his SDS laptop
he was very greatful.
One might assume that 164 would be the same.

If you're not afraid of doing a retrofit, I would recommend swapping out the projectors for something better.
https://lightwerkz.net/collections/r...to-g5-brackets- these brackets will allow you to use one of many aftermarket projector options available. Alternatively, the Morimoto EvoX-R is a direct swap with no additional bracket needed. If you go HID, 50/55 watt ballasts will maximize light output and have the lowest likelihood of triggering headlamp warnings on cars coded for halogen. Lightwerkz usually runs 15% off sales every holiday so this coming up Black Friday might be the time to buy.
