2007 ML500 Command Problems
Currently driving a 2007 ML500 after swapping out the old 06 ML350. Loving the car so far. It even came with the Harman Kardon surround sound system with fibre optic cables. A few issues here and there but one day I messed up big time. Over the weekend I decided I wanted to "clean up" the arm rest compartment since I don't really use the bluetooth puck which came with the car. I was having problems getting the puck out of the compartment and decided to just save myself the trouble and cut the wires off (attached picture). What could go wrong right? Boy I was wrong. After doing so I disabled the command system. It would turn on and show the Mercedes-Benz logo and turn off. Later on I figured out how to unplug the puck out of its holder. Great....
Doing a bit of searching I found out the reason it doesn't work anymore is because I've cut the fibre optic cable leading to the bluetooth puck and since the fibre optic cable has components all connected in series, this causes the command unit to spot and error and switch itself off. I'm kicking myself in the back right now because of it. What a genius moment. How would I go about getting this fixed / bypassing the fibre optic lines? I know of a fibre optic loop adapter which does this but where do I connect it? Any other suggestions are very welcome. Thank you in advance.

Honestly I thought it was nothing. Just a bluetooth module. Just snip off the wires, tuck them away and presto. No more giant bluetooth puck in the armrest. Now I'm just filled with regret hoping the issue could be fixed

From the looks of it, that thick black wire is shielded and cannot be repaired.
Look at connector with a magnifying glass and look for the part #, e.g. xxx xxx xx xx so we may see if that harness is a separate one from the main harness.

Sorry for the late response. Finally got the torx bit sizes small enough to remove the darn cover. I've found the part number of the wire. It reads 05E27CB001402

Mercedes benz e200 cdi w211
I made almost the same mistake
I have a 2005 e200 w211
my armrest was warnout and ugly so i got a pre-owned replacement.
I started to replace it the wires were in the way i could not unplug them to remove the armrest so i cut the wires replaced the armrest and conjoined the wires by twisting them and covered them with isolation tape. (it thought nothing bad could happen)
But when i started the car there was a message:
“battery protection: Convince functions temporary unavailable”
then waited a little bit and the radio didn’t start (only the mercedes logo was showing few seconds in command )
so here is mu question: did you maned to conjoin them (maybe I didn’t do it properly)
or did you replced the whole wires with the connector?
