Fuel pump replacement compatibility 2006 ML500 W164
Fuel pump died, no fuel pressure (fuses and relay good).
I ordered a Delphi unit and waiting for it to arrive tomorrow. I removed the OEM unit and has a tube that has a clamp that doesnt look like it should be removed. Also, the pictures of the Delphi and even OEM Mercedes fuel pumps do not look the same. The thicker brown tube comes off, but the thin one is clamped on. Do I need that filter sock looking thing? What is the deal, is it an updated part? Will this new pump work?
Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks for the manual; but it doesnt show my issue.
The thicker tube pops off, the thinner one with the close up picture has a metal clamp, cant be removed. So how do I transfer that to the new pump?

It looks like you'll (carefully) have to cut the crimp on clamp. Maybe use a small rotary cutter on a "Dremel" type device.
It looks like a mini-cv boot type of clamp. I'd replace it with a good old "Jubilee Clip" (worm drive clamp).

Thanks guys, I cut the tab off and luckily found a tiny clamp at Autozone. Installed the parts, car starts
TO anyone wondering, Fuel pump is on right side, but left has another unit called a Fuel Sender, I believe
