FUEL LEAKING ---- LITTLE HELP PLEASE????
Over the past week my wife and I have been smelling strong fumes after parking our ML320 in the garage. Never having a diesel before and having a recent rapid decrease in temperatures (We live in Fairbanks, Alaska) I didn't give it much thought but tonight I decided to look under the hood and begin trying to figure it out. After lifting the dust cover I noticed diesel fuel pooling in a part (don't know the name of the part... thats why I'm writing this post) in the center of the engine. I'm going to take it to my local mech (no local Mercedes dealer) and want to have a bit of knowledge when I walk in the door. Thanks in advance for the assist.

Hi
That is your fuel filter. One or both of its hoses would be leaking, probably the clamps on the hoses were not seated back to its original position when the filter was replaced before you.

Or the o-rings on the sensor
that is secured to the filters were not changed the last time the filter was changed. Happened to me as indy did not change The filter can be bought wit/without the sensor. But the orings need to be changed when changing the filter.

Thanks a ton VIRGISR!!!! Really appreciate the quick reply. The hoses are both soaked with fuel so we'll have to see what my mechanic turns up... hopefully an easy fix... but is there anything on one of these an easy fix???? Thanks again.
