08 ML63AMG Thermostat replacement

Hi, i got a Big leak out of the small hose outlet on theThermostat when car gets to a running temperature. Anyone know step by step how to replace the Thermostat? it looks pretty tight in there dont look like a easy job as is on W163
And i would like to flush old Antifreeze and fill it up with Blue MB coolant. Any hints on that as well? Thank you!!

Maj Dundee Thank you so much for your info, it made so much easier taking the Thermostat off. But i got one more little problem when i wanted to drain the antifreeze out, i located the drain plug it was broken off. Just the head of it, i guess when someone tried to drain it before they broke it off.. How can i get it out? i know it twists to the left on the threads to come out a little and then i see 2 clips at the end of it. Sprayed WD40 for 2 days let it soak so it will be easier for me when i get the thermostat and the drain plug. Please let me know how can i extract it out, what tools to use and how do i put it out after i twist it open, thanks

Just leave it in there, you may end up wrecking the radiator! Just pull the lowest hose off.

I agree with Tex, but it all depends on how much of the cap is broken off.

Here is a photo of the plug along with the part # if you get brave.

Ordered the Plug on FCP in on the way should be here tomorrow or Thursday.
It soaked in WD40 for a day, today i came took T25 bit pushed it in to the middle of the broken drain plug and started to turn left. Well, it was my lucky day, i was very careful and didnt force it at all. drain plug unscrewed and coolant drained.
But i grabbed by the thread with my fingers i twisted i pulled, tried everything to pull the whole thing out and i couldnt. I guess there is a trick to it, how to get them to clips at the end to come out,
Anyone knows the trick how i can get it out and install new drain plug?
FYI my drain plug was broken off to the point where threads start, the big head that sticking out of the radiator where you put screwdriver is completely gone broken off. I will take a picture tomorrow and post it.
Thanks!

With a needle nose pliers squeeze the two ends and pull out.

But how do i get to them to squeeze ? isn't it inside the radiator?
I still didnt get the new plug and didnt get the old one out, dont want to rush and mess something up plus waiting for more parts.
This is how mine looks right now.
Thank you

You have to twist and pull the plug at the same time and pull it until the both O-rings are out. The squeeze the two locking tabs.
