P0016 Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor A
I recently DIY replaced my balance shaft and all the sensors accompanied with the job. Was going to make a thread but another user had already done an amazing job so there was no point.
I am now left with the P0016 DTC that is forever stored in the ECU. I can't clear it with my iCarsoft MB II no matter how many times I've tried.
I have replaced the cam and crankshaft position sensors as I got the 0016 and 0017 codes before the DIY and after. After replacement, they are still persistent although the 0016 is more so.
Mechanically speaking, the car is mint. There are no vibrations, rattles, misalignments, etc. Car has passed safety (both in ON and QC) so this is more of a personal pet peeve/irritation.
I checked the timing chain thoroughly before buttoning up the car, and I have checked and checked the position of the sensors and they're dead-centre.
How do I fix this? Do I have to shell out an absurd amount of money to obtain the Star Diagnostic Tool to relearn the crank position? Are there any alternatives to the Star Diagnostic/workarounds?
Thank you in advance.
Yes. Like I said I did the balance shaft replacement myself. I have WIS/ASRA, EPC, etc. Pulled the motor and trans and all.
Everything is fine. The only concern I had was maybe the chain slipping a degree or two during install but that's not the case. The sensors are dead-centre as well so I'm not too sure what the issue really is.
Maybe a bad set of sensors but I don't know. Off the top of my head, using iCarsoft to check the degree of the crankshaft and camshaft, they are at -2.5° and +0.5°, respectively. I'll have to confirm that again.
