Cam position sensor compatibility

Hello MBworld, my 200k 2006 ml500 was recently having an intermittent issue of cranking for about two to three seconds, much longer than usual. It happened less than half of the time, and only about three times total in the past couple days. I decided to replace the camshaft position sensor as a remedy.

Based on my vin a certain online parts retailer (start F end in Euro, as well as Amazon) said to get part Bosch 0232103037 which has the metal exposed tip. Upon removing my original one I saw its the fully plastic unit Bosch 0232103114 (which is listed for 2007 ML500, not 2006 even though I thought they are identical).

Any problems installing the older model? Any insight into this part # confusion

Older part # listed for my car, but not what was installed

What was installed on my 2006 but online is only listed for 2007

Hard to tell since it didn't do it every time, so far I have started the car 3 times no problem, but that is not enough times to know.
