'07 ML500 Resonator Delete / X-pipe?
Initially, my intent was to add a resonated x-pipe, but based on a couple W164 underbody photos, I am not sure this is possible. The distance between both pipes is quite large and it would take some custom fabrication to make it work. Instead, people seem to delete the resonators before the rear muffler area and replace them with straight pipes. I am open to doing the same. A different thread said one can expect ~20% more sound with no drone and a quiet cabin off the throttle. That's exactly what I'm looking for ... something very subtle that'll add a touch more flavor to the exhaust.
Has anyone done a resonator delete? If so, what is the ID/OD and length of the piping you used? I would like to purchase stainless steel piping but need the dimensions first. Also, does anyone have any Youtube videos of the resonator delete only? I found one on a W164 and some older W210s, but if there is a forum member with something on hand, that would be cool to see. Again, most go beyond just deleting the resonator.
What's the distance between these two pipes?
