Question 06 ML500 Low Voltage Side Marker Light

The last dash error message on the ML500 I bought for my son and DIL was driver's side marker light out. I already fixed this for the passenger side. So I know you have to take the front wheel well plastic shield to give you access to remove the headlight unit. I got it out and replaced the bulb. It didn't light. I checked the voltage with a voltmeter, 0.63V when powered on. I removed the bulb holder and tested the connector and found the same voltage.

What is the next step in troubleshooting on how to fix it? Is it just working your way down the wiring harness? Or is there some common failure point on these models? Lastly, I read of some MBs (SLKs for example), you have to do a full lock to lock turn of the steering wheel if your cornering lights fail. Is there something in the cars ECU that is providing the lower voltage until I reset it?

Thanks for checking in no, I didn't. Do you have any suggestions for these type of problems and this model?

In your original post you said this..........The last dash error message on the ML500 I bought for my son and DIL was driver's side marker light out. I already fixed this for the passenger side.

What is DIL? Spell out your abbreviations.

How did you fix the passenger side?

Everything is jumbled .

Did you check for codes in the front SAM?

What is DIL? Spell out your abbreviations. Daughter-in-law. I bought this car for them. But, obviously I want to fix every thing, every little fault, before I give it to them.

How did you fix the passenger side? Just pulled the headlight by removing the plastic inner wheel well, and changed the bulb. I put it back together and it worked. On this side, driver's side, you can see that I am not getting 12 volts, only .6 so the problem is not the bulb, but something else.

Everything is jumbled. OK. I hope it is more sorted out now.

Did you check for codes in the front SAM? Sorry, I don't know what a SAM is? I'll answer if you explain.

There are two SAMs (Signal Actuation Modules) front & rear and they basically control control everything in the car. One is under the front passenger seat where the battery is and the other is on the floor of the spare tire compartment.

Did you replace the bulb on the driver's side?
