Angry Strange noise

Hi all
I'm new to this forum and looking for some advise. I have a 2008, ML420. Yesterday after driving around 40 miles on a motorway I heard a strange wheel bearing kinda of noise whilst driving beteween 60 / 70 mph. I was in traffic on and off the accelerator, it seemed to be more around 60, when I sped up it went. At first I thought it was a stone a stuck in the braking system. then about 10 miles up the road it did it again once I slowed in traffic doing about 60mph. It lasted for about 30 seconds and again i sped up in the traffic and it stopped. I never heard it again on that part of my journey. I left the car parked up for a couple of hours then drove the same distance home. On the way home the traffic was similar flowing 60/70 mph, Not a single noise was heard. Anyone got any idea what the problem is. I was wondering if it was a complaining wheek bearing or gearbox oil issue.

Cheers
Mike

My guess would be that the parking brake shoe/s have detached from the metal cast. You would have to check both wheels.
