06 ML500 not starting

06 ML500 not starting
Whats up MBworld,
My parents have a 2006 ML500 that died on them yesterday. Turn the key, car tries to start, might fire up then start to die at which point the car revs up and then dies.
Hooked it up to STAR but had no codes.
Where would you guys suggest we look first? It does have 180K miles.
