HELP! Driver seat got fire by heating system.

Today i started the car and go on a small trip to local mountain. After 5-6 hours we took back to the car and going home. I started the car and i it was little cold (5-8 degrees) and i turn on my heating seat. After 20 km it started smooking and my T-shirt was burned on holes... I turned off the heating and the car too. After 10 min when everything was under control (i mean the car didn't burn) i started and continue to home without using heating seat.My wife used it next to me but there is no problem, it works fine. So i will find the fuse responsible for heating seats and will plug it out. But after that, what i should do? I won't go to dealer because this is +14y year car and it will cost too much money for it. I will search independent workshop to fix it. But first and most important thing is to understand what cast this problem. What is the reason for this and how i can fix the problem so it wont happen again. Do i have to change heating wires inside the seat or what? Im attaching 2 pictures of the burned seat. It's located on driver's side board under my left arm .

Edit: After i came back at home safe i started again heating seat and put a finger in the hole and then i saw an electric sparks inside. So the cable is not cut. Is it possible that the reason for this i my seating position at this current trip? I mean weight to be distributed too much on left side of the seat and because of this the cables was splashed/ squeezed to much ?

This problem has been a known issue ever since they featured it from day one.

Lol i didn't know about this issue, so thanks a lot for updating me. As i understands there will be a way to be covered by Mercedes. But there is slight difficulty at my current case. I'm 3rd owner of the car, the first one bought it in USA and after 5 years he sold the car to second owner in Eastern Europe. He owned the car for another 5 years and after that i buy it from him on January 2016. The first problem is does Mercedes will cover the repairs because the lawsuit has been held in USA and the car now is on the other side of the planet... Second, the car has been serviced in dealership up to 2011 by first owner, after that the secondary owner and me, serviced the car to independent workshops, but accordingly to service book manual. We only didn't pay a tons of money for simple oil change that's all.

You will have to contact M/B and see what they say.

Yeah, i'm searching a contacts to Mercedes at this moment, but i'm not sure that MBUSA will help me. As i mentioned, the car is located in Europe, since 2011. I'm trying to upscale the problem to Daimler Germany, so they can order to my local dealer to take an action. Because if i go directly to local dealer, they will try to avoid the repair or will take it as an ordinary job and will cost me a +1000$ for this, which is irregular at this situation.

Well, I automatically assumed that you were in the US.

Please update your profile to include where you live.
