2007 ML350 Backup Camera

I replaced the Command Unit on my 2007 ML350 due to a bad LCD screen. The used unit it was replaced with came from a vehicle that did not have a backup camera, therefore my ML's backup camera no longer works. Any ideas on how to turn on the backup camera on the command unit? Is the is a job for the dealer? Thank you in advance.

Did the original radio and the new one have the same part numbers?

Thanks, Maj. Dundee. Yes, the part installed was the same part number that originally came with the car.

Give me a few hrs. to look into this.

In the mean time could you please up date your profile to include the year, model, is it gas, CDI or Blue and where you live, which tells us you have right or left hand drive.

I think I got the profile settings completed, but if there is anything I missed, please let me know. Thanks

When replacing the radio, it must be coded.

Thank you Maj. Dundee. Do you know if the Amp under the seat also needs to be coded when replaced? I recently lost all audio sound and have a used Amp on order to replace the old Amp. I am not yet certain if it's the Amp, but I know it's not the command unit since I still have the old one with the bad LCD and replaced the issue still exists, so I figured the next stop is replacing the Amp. I will update as soon as the Amp arrives which will be in a couple of days. Much appreciate your help.

Yes it is. Here are the instructions to R&I the Amp.

Do you have Star or have a scanner (not a code reader)?

I hope this works out for you.

Very much appreciate it Maj. Dundee. Unfortunately, I do not have a Star or any type of a MB scanner but it looks like a purchase to be made or a trip to the dealer. I assume the Autel MaxiDiag MD808 Pro can take care of the backup camera issue and the Amp exchange. Correct? Thanks again.

Yes it will on all M/B veh. and any other manufacturer, US, Euro. and elsewhere.

Think about it, one trip to the dealer will be $150, half the cost of the Autel.

I reached out to a friend who owns a shop and he offered to use his scanner to help out. He said he was unable to get any connection or signal to the Amp and thinks there is something in the way that is causing this and thinks it may be the Audio Gateway. My question is, can a faulty Audio Gateway which is also located under the driver seat next to the Amp (part number A1645403462 on my car) cause intermittent audio issues from the entertainment system? I am thinking about getting a used one from eBay to test this out.

Thanks again for the input.

This is all guesswork by your friend. It still comes down to the fact that the radio must be coded.

Are you getting a black screen on the radio and the radio does not work?

Issue Resolved: Just a quick update to let everyone know that my particular issue with audio sound going out after a minute or so was caused by a faulty Satellite Radio module found under the rear seat. The part number for my 2007 ML350 is 164162470581. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
PJ
