Question Removing Rubber Jack Pads Issue

I'm installing new running boards on my ML and I'm having trouble removing the jack pads. The new ones and others I've seen have a single slot which a flathead screwdriver can easily screw/unscrew. Mine have 4 slots as you see in the pix and I cannot get it to budge.

Is there a trick to this or is there a special tool that would make this easier?

Any advice is appreciated.

This is the only thing I have on Jack Pads. You might have to pry them out and buy new ones.

Thank you.

I was hoping there would be a simple tool to unscrew it to avoid prying it off.

I replaced my originals, which were some sort of hard rubber, with the latest versions, which are hard plastic. I believe the white center item just pushes in, so unscrewing isn't the process like it was with the originals with the screwdriver slot. So I think just pull with a usable hook tool. It's not a separate part number, so ...
