Backup Camera
I am getting a blurry and darker picture when my backup camera is activated, its impossible to use at night. I've cleaned the external lens without improving picture quality. Any ideas on how to improve the image quality?
This 2009 ML320 has the factory installed backup camera.

I've had the backup module scanned no codes are indicated. The service tech is advising to replace the camera because the blurriness is on the inside lens. Is there a way to open the camera and clean the inside lens? Is there an after market camera that is plug n play with old one or is the OEM one my only choice?

I just bought my ML, and it had a very similar problem. I had to replace my head unit because the previous owner had spilled coffee on (and somehow in) it. The replacement head unit fixed the problem with the backup camera.

Thanks for your reply. Without any error codes my next step is to start replacing components, camera and then head unit.
