Hello all. Greetings from Finland. I'm a happy owner of ML 350 CDI (from 2011) with offroad option. Only thing bothers me is Malfunction sometimes coming to dashboard in a winter time and it makes the car set the suspension to Sport-mode. Everything in suspension works fine but it's just then stuck in Sport. After restart it might work fine or come back after short ride.
Components has been replaced and like I said there is no visual issue.
I know this is quite common problem but I just have not found a proper way to fix it. One mechanic said wires are good. Tester says it's about left rear damber but it has been replaced recently without effecting to this problem.
So fellow MB guys! Please help me 😀

Hi Jay-Jay, did you ever resolve your problem?
I have the very same problem on a 2009 w164 280CDI but on the left front damper.
Code is: 5207 - check component Y51y1(left solinoid valve 1) on assembly Y51(left front axle damping valve unit)
The problem appeared after replacing the 2 front dampers with new Arnott dampers and since then this has been an issue for the left front damper.
I got the left front damper replaced a second time under warranty, but the problem persisted.
Also changed the Airmatic compressor due to noise level - but it did not fix the issue either.
I did find a comment for the error (5207) code for another MB model that seem to have the same Airmatic codes as my car and it said: loose connection.
I am leaning towards that it may be a connection issue, but can not figure out why "Malfunction + Arrow Up" would only appear in cold weather conditions (<0C/32F)?

In my case it was one ride height sensor.

Hi OUZO Power
Thanks for your response.
Did you experience the same problem?
No other obvious problems than Airmatic error "malfunction + arrow up" message and stuck in sport mode if started in freezing temperatures.
That error message would only appear within couple of minutes of driving or not at all....
Thanks for your response.

I had the exact same issues/symptoms. One bad ride height sensor in the back caused it all.Originally Posted by ksh
