Bovee 1000 or Alternative for Bluetooth Audio in 2008 ML350

Hi,

I just got a very clean 2008 ML350. I comes with the Ipod cable in glove box, and also has the option to install the MB puck for phone Bluetooth in center console.

I plan on replacing head unit at a later date, but for the immediate future I need to get music/audio streaming working. What is the easiest (acceptable) solution.

My research let me to the Bovee 1000, which plugs in the ipod cable. This should give plug an play streaming of music over BT. I can't take calls though through this solution.

Is there another solution that may be better at this time? I don't want to remove the head unit yet, so it has to be something easily plug and play.

Also, does anyone know if adding Bovee 1000 as well as MB puck causes issues with bluetooth capabilities to stream music and answer calls?

Phone to be used is brand new Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Thanks

I have the Bovee and MB bluetooth puck. It works well, but my set up is as follows:
Android tablet --> bluetooth to Bovee
My phone --> bluetooth to MB puck
My phone --> WIFI hotspot to tablet

This works well for me. I leave the system stock, but now have maps, android apps, spotify, etc. The only thing I loose is the radio, but can access this by moving the tablet.
When calls come, the android connection is muted. I can still make calls from the dash and skip songs from the dash.
The reason I didn't replace the head unit is that I'd loose a number of functions in the dash and can only output stereo to the fibre connection.

Thanks!

I just ran a test with 2 Bluetooth speakers. With just my phone, I could connect one for audio and another for calls, so I might be able to just use the phone for both connections. I'll roll the dice and report back in mid July.

Ive had the bovee for 9 years. It works and connects instantaneously however when a call comes through and I want to take it hands free I have to disconnect it. It shouldn't be that way and I suspect its a dodgy unit. The only thing it doesn't give you is the name of the songs on the command system or dashboard.
