2009 ML350 Rear camera stopped working
2009 ML350 with OE backup camera (option 218)
The camera has just stopped working. I have seen other posts where other members have a black screen, or a flickering image, but mine just doesn't do anything when I shift to reverse. The COMAND display continues to display the navigation, or radio tuner, or whatever it was doing.
- I've looked in the setup, and the setting to activate the camera by shifting to R is still checked.
- It has worked without fault until now, and nothing else has been done to the car recently that might affect it.
- I've checked the fuse (#37) and it is good.
- I located the power module in the trunk area. Visually it looks ok, the connections are clean and solid, no water ingress.
- I have an iCarSoft reader that could previously see the reverse camera (I periodically look through for codes, so I know it has been able to recognize the camera in the past) - but now, the reader won't even connect to the camera module to see if there are any codes or not.
- No other fault codes in any module.
Any thoughts?
If it is the power module at fault, I see they are available used on eBay for about $40. Does anyone know if they have to be programmed to the car or if it would be a plug and play?
