Good opportunity to replace them all, flush the system and be happy.
Thanks for the information, replacing those shouldn't be that expensive? I assume once you remove that under carriage tray it'll be easy to access these hoses from underneath?

Also think I should give the previous shop a 3rd chance to fix my coolant issue OR just cut my losses and go with a Mercedes Benz only shop.
I don't want to accuse shops of tampering with stuff so that I'll bring the car back for more repairs BUT I took the SUV here last year for the first time to get an oil change (really cheap also! $159) and afterwards I saw smoke coming out of the engine bay upon startup the next day but eventually went away after a few mins. I took it back the next day and they said I needed the Engine Oil Separator cover to be replaced at the tune of $685. The part was $71 and labor $608. Remember this shop fixes all models cars.

My take is they've given you more than enough reason to go elsewhere. A $159 oil change might have been bait to begin with? Oil and filter would be at least 80% of that if not more (assuming they used a quality oil and filter - did they even change the filter?). You'll know better as to the shop you dealt with but anyone advertising a fixed price oil change is just looking to reel in customers and then charge for repairs you probably don't need.

The oil seperator price is at the top end. Note its three screws and a tube that needs to be removed. 20 minutes work at worst. I've done mine myself. So yes, they are trying to rip you off, big time.

Proper maintenance on these cars pays off. Find a good indy MB specialist and build a relationship. You'll get better service, less hassles, and someone worried about their brand that will stand behind their work. And that's a much better outcome.

I hear ya, it wasn't a fixed price that was the final total for the oil change. This shop has a 5 star rating in yelp with everyone saying they are totally honest and never upsell, this mechanic use to work somewhere else and finally opened his own shop where his previous customers followed him over. So their reputation is what got me to try them.
Yeah the. $159 was for the oil/filter replacement.
But I'll take it to another shop on Monday that just works on Mercedes Benz automobiles.
Thanks!

Fukin hell new radiator is needed!!! It's leaking right at the seam at the bottom according to the new shop
$1,600 estimate!!! ($500 for the radiator/ 4 hour labor) Does it really take 4 hours??
Between the thermostat / upper hose and now the radiator this is like a $2,500 fiasco.
Hopefully this is the end. Wsh me luck.
Not sure how this story could've ended any differently, maybe I should've taken it to the shop fixing the radiator to begin with?

I guess this estimate is spot on based on www.repairpal.com for my area

FCP Euro have the radiator (Genuine) at $515. Its a 90-120 minute job. You really need to find yourself a decent shop or DIY.

Sigh I know, just don't have time for DIY stuff.

Does the transmission and power steering fluid need to be replaced when replacing the radiator?
The last shop did these two along with replacing the radiator.

Farking mechanics, they break more stuff than they fix.

Might be time for some UV dye and the UV flashlight. Then put a pressure test on the system…

Recall that I have a new radiator that's only 3 months old. I don't see any leaks anywhere when I looked. But if after a few weeks the low coolant light comes on again then I need to take it to the last mechanic who replaced the radiator to see what's up

There’s a LOT more to your cooling system than just a radiator. So adding the UV dye into the coolant will let you see where it’s coming out. If you’re still not coming up with anything the pressure test will tell you if you possibly have a bad head gasket or cracked head.

Just saying that some targeted troubleshooting is cheaper than changing parts…
