Replacing the steering rack in a 2007 W164
My car needed new front wheel bearings and had a very leaky rack at the same time. Doing it myself and with the rust this is turning into a big job. Bearings are finished only real difficulty was the rust. Now on to the rack.
Both rack mounting bolts are out. So rack is loose. I haven't released the lines yet or the steering column but I'm wondering now that I really see the space if the rack is removable without lowering the engine?
