FML - 07 ML63 Water damaged on rear SAM

Welp, it happened! It rained outside for the first time that I owned this car. Water leaked into the trunk, I suspect through the trunk seal at the top. Dripped all the way down the trim, through the left headlight gasket, and dripped into the rear SAM. I attempted to clean it off with contact cleaner and cotton swabs. Rear SAM communicates with my scanner and everything works as far as I can tell, with the exception of my left taillight brake lamp will not shut off. It constantly stays on. Even with the car off and locked. I disconnected the battery to save it from burning out. But not sure what to do at this point. I tried looking for a replacement SAM online, but not a single one available with my part number. What do you folks advise? Should I try cleaning it again? Sending it off to a company to clean it? Photos of rear SAM before cleaning it are below. I hate MB for this.

Almost any other w164 SAM can be adapted/coded to your car as long as it has all connectors populated with PIN's like yours. As even if you will find the same code, some of the options will need to be coded as well.

The most important is to seal the space from where the water came in.

Will the rear SAM from an r-class work?
