W164 NO CRANK NO START??

Hi all,

Got a 2009 ML320 CDI, I’ve just rebuilt the conductor plate on it and it’s been sitting for around a year.

I’ve connected a new battery and the car has power the ignition works as it should but will not turn over when key is turned, I have jumped the starter motor and it turns fine any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’ve checked basic stuff like fuses etc I can hear the fuel pump prime when ignition is in position 2

thanks all as am scratching my head

i had similar behavior but not on ML, my problem was connector on started rusted / oxidized and starter was getting less current and at some point refused to turn fuse was fine... i was keep trying till i got smoke for stater wire and then fuse poped... replaced starter and all was good though then found out that starter was fine just needed very good connector cleaning.
I would check if starter gets voltage or not, is not go to relay and see whats happens there both signal and power terminals

Hi, would you please share how you jumped the starter motor? Pin 30 on the starter relay has no dedicated power unless the ignition is turned to position 2. Jumping Pins 30 & 87 with no ignition, should turn the starter, but apparently not on my ML500!
Any thoughts?
Thanks
