You need to scan your car with an MB suitable scan tool. Good chance you have water intrusion in the rear and that has corroded the rear SAM. Search the forum for rear SAM and water intrusion and I suspect you'll find many similar stories and fixes.

I recently bought a second vehicle a 2010 ML350 with 163500 miles in January. I took it to my indy mech and he drove it and gave me all the what to look out for.
He pointed to the right rear taillight assembly and the rotted rubber seal and said tape that up or you will have serious problems if rain gets in there, opened the hatch and showed me the massive electronic bank.
As recommended above that is where to start looking.
Of course Mercedes then stuck all that stuff under the driver's seat staring in 2020 W167 so if the AC leaks or you leave a window/sunroof cracked (like I did last night when a huger downpour soaked my interior) then you easily fry the entire electronic package costing many thousands and it is your fault not MB
