Fuel filter
This is the fuel filter on my 2008 ML320 CDI. I am wanting to order one of FCP Euro. They have multiple ones listed. I would also like to change the fuel lines to it. I see they also have it as a kit. Do I stick with MB or is Mann okay as well?
official Mercedes procedures expressly prohibit the use of screw type clamps at filter connections.
the requirement is new CLIC clamps each change.
sorry, but you will have to own a CLIC clamp pliers.
of course these are not everyday hoses as the pressures are high.
the Mann kit should be fine, as FCP is a reputable, skilled company.
your neighborhood auto parts dime store is not.https://www.hazet.de/en/products/han...-4000896051397

Some filters have a sensor or heater built in, which yours has.
From the sensor part number, it's a water sensor.
A6420920101 should give you a starting point for the correct filter.

So what I am hearing is, that I will be waiting for three weeks for my shoulder to recover. 🤣 I appreciate your assistance. While replacing that do you recommend replacing anything else since I have to remove so many parts? I just did the air filters and MAF sensors.
I plan to replace the fuel lines to the filter at the same time.
What should I inspect once the filter is removed? Will I be able to visualize the glow plugs?
At idle fuel pressure is 3800psi and at 2500rpm it is 10,000psi. I have an iCarsoft scanner.
Thank you for your assistance.

Personally, I would replace all the rubber fuel hoses and clips from the fuel supply pipe to the return pipe, so the use to the filter, filter to HP pump, from the HP pump to the fuel rail and the rail to the return/leak off pipes.
Glow plugs and water sensor should be testable with the icarsoft.
If one glow plug is showing abnormal resistance replace all of them. But make sure the engine is hot when you do. Would suggest taking the car for a run, quickly strip the top off and do the glow plugs first. Then let it cool down before continuing. They're relatively cheap and good insurance if you're unsure of their age.
Pcv bits also a good 'whilst you're in there'...

Thank you for your advice. I try to do as much as possible when something is taken apart. Especially when it comes to MB. Whoever engineered these need to be made to assemble and disassemble it with hand tools only.
