no, it's mounted on the steering column like the BMW 745i and most American SUV's. It's touch activated also, meaning you don't actually move the lever, and you push a button in on the end of the lever for park. Manually shifting the transmission is done by "paddle" buttons on the back of the steering wheel. Here's a pic...click here
