I need help to find out if the U.S. model 2012 ML350 Comand NTG 4.5 Navigation system will work in Europe. I understand U.S. navigation systems in the past (CD/DVD based) were not compatible with European map data discs (CD/DVD). Now that the navigation systems are hard drive based, I need to find out if a U.S version 2012 ML350 will be able to loaded with European maps when I take it to the Mercedes Benz dealer in Germany. I know some MB U.S. models built in Germany (C Class and GLK) are able to be loaded with European maps and then reloaded with U.S. maps when you bring the car back to the states. I haven't been able to get any MB dealer here in the U.S. to give me a definitive answer. A technician at a German MB Dealer told me he would have to see the navigation head unit to see if it has the "switches" required to allow new software to be loaded to enable loading of European maps. I don't want to buy this vehicle and ship it to Germany if I can't load European map data on it! Thanks for the help.

NTG4.5 on new systems can be converted from America to Europe is very easy
and can assist in the navigation maps installed on these systems

European navigation in a US spec ML350....so I posted this question 2 years ago. Has anyone actually converted an ML350 NTG 4.5 navigation system (MY 2012 or later) from US to European navigation and loaded European maps? I'm looking for the solution to my problem. I am bringing a US Spec 2014 ML350 with navigation to Europe if I can be assured that it is possible to change the US navigation to European navigation. I know for a fact that pre-2012 ML350s could not use the navigation in Europe. With Comand Online NTG 4.5, I'm trying to confirm or deny if I can switch the US navigation to European navigation. I'm sure it will involve loading European map data DVDs, but don't know if this is technically possible. I've heard that yes you can load Euro map data if you have a PIN to authorize this. I can't find anyone who has actually succeeded in doing this. I've called MB dealers in Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Mannheim, and Kaiserslautern and have only had two answer back to me. One MB dealer says yes, it can be done, and the other said it is not possible. Great help from two Mercedes Benz dealers here in Deutschland! Even if they say it can be done, are the map data DVD region coded which would prevent the DVD player in the ML350 dash from downloading the European map data? I'm tired of asking MB dealers in the states and in Europe such a seemingly simple question about changing my navi from us to euro and not getting anyone who has the knowledge or capability to reach out to the MB electronics gurus and get me a straight answer! Help!!!!!!!!!

All can be done, but you do not have tmc and multiple radiostation.
You will need a willing servicedealer to provide you a licence code and the mapdvd by payment.
If you live in the neighbourghood of eindhoven Netherlands i will do it for you.

So you are in the Netherlands with a US Specification ML350? What year? And you converted your US navigation to European maps and it works minus the Traffic Message Channel (TMC)? What does the multiple radio station issue limit? Did a Mercedes Benz dealer install for you or did you go through a third party off this site? Thanks for your assistance. Looking forward to answers to my questions. I'm down in Kaiserlautern FYI.
