Possible to Special Order
Just got back from MB of Coral Gables and the new ML looks even better in person. Its big but not as big as my Escalade.
After looking at some pictures I think the color combo I want is Citrine Brown Metallic over Tobacco Brown. There's only a couple problems.
1. The stealership says he won't be getting any tobacco brown interiors and doesn't even think they will produce them in the US.
2. He doesn't have the options that I want on any vechicles and says that those specific options by themselves would be very hard to come by.
3. There are no xenons on any in his showroom and he tells me I'll have to wait until Feb. at the earliest...very much a deal braker.
4. I don't mind waiting a bit since the Escalade still runs well, but the stealership also told me he rarely does custom orders on ML's and that I would likely have to pay MSRP if I did. I've only paid a few hundred over invoice for all the cars I have bought.
I very much like these cars, but unless I can get the options and colors I really like (I will keep this car for 5-6 years) at the price I want, I think I will have to move on. Since you guys seem to know more than the stealership anyway what's y'alls call on this?

He is full of s**t. I ordered mine its basically fully loaded and has the xenons but i won't have it till feb but already put my order in. Plus i've bought so many cars from the dealer thats by me that i got a 5k discount.

I second that, your dealer sounds like a wad - don't forget he's working for you! It seems he's forgotten...
I don't know where you are, but I have a friend at MB of Tampa - Bernie Freedman, if it can be done, he'll do it. He's excellent, so is the dealership, so is their pricing !!! I am on my 4th ML, All have been custom ordered to my spec and I can assure you I have never paid MSRP or close to it. Find another dealer.

"Special order" colors
The colors you mention are not in the ML portfolio, that I've seen. Did you see photos of MLs in these colors? The standard brown paint is Dakota Brown (metallic). The only brown leather listed is a Special Request Option, #254 Auburn Brown/Black. The SO options are not listed on MBUSA website. I will be talking to my dealer about them this week.

jchochla, did you get the conquest cash with that...I was looking to do a similar deal, down to invoice and then use conquest to reach that.
emdem, thank you. I will likely be emailing you within the next couple of months. The issue is that I also need to trade my escalade in and so I will have to likely wait a few months now that the xenon's are delayed.

I'm using Canadian colors in my post, but the stealership told me they would not be available in the US. I'm going to try another place though...it's going to be a while until I order anyway given that the lights are delayed and I need to trade in my current vechicle.

Where I live, I got a way BETTER deal by ordering since the demand was very high for the launch units. Each dealership has allocations that they can change, so you may want to talk to them about that. I special ordered mine with the Auburn Brown Leather and Satin Ash wood.

Find another dealership. I am on my second ML, both were special ordered to my specifications. I plan on ordering another ML when my lease is up in early 2013. Plan on another special order. I live in upstate NY and my local dealership closed several years ago. I have no loyalities. Had several minor warranty issues repaired at two different dealerships. Not impressed with either so I am going to search for a dealer that works for me.

I got my special order ML from Romano Motors in Syracuse. I have owned MB's for the past 25 years and they are the best dealership I have ever dealt with. Don't know if they are near you..

As other have posted, I received my window sticker showing my order with Auburn brown leather special order. If your reading this forum you know more than the dealer.

It amazes me how much more we know than the dealer. I often wonder how many buyers do not get the options they want because the dealer is ignorant or not willing to place a special order

Did you know that dealers can special order whatever paint color you want? You can send them a sample of whatever you want them to match, and the factory will match it (for example, if you want your car to match your house color, send them a paint sample)

One customer at the local Seattle dealer insisted on having a robin's egg blue (light baby blue) SL550. MB didn't offer the color so what the dealer did was take a black SL550 and took it to a paint shop to be repainted to the baby blue color. If the dealer had the ability to order the custom color straight from the factory I highly doubt they'd go through the trouble of sending it to a paint shop after the fact. Is this something that the dealers are even aware of?
