1st 100 miles

Picked up a Steel Gray for the wife, moved her up from a GLK.

The good:
Interior materials, fit and finish are outstanding. Huge improvement over her GLK. NAV is feature rich except no touchscreen. (the Sync in my F150 is far better!). New V6 is whisper quiet and smooth, plenty of power. Keyless Go is cool. The ability to lock and unlock the doors by touching the handles is very convenient. Electromechanical steering is very light and easy. To light for me, but she likes it. I felt Blind Spot assist would be a waste of money, but it actually works nice. Wood/Leather steering wheel is thick and sized just right. Rear view camera has excellent detail and guide lines turn as you change directions. Paint is very nice, looks deep and the Steel Gray has a blue hue to it when in direct light.

The not so good:
Side mirrors are to small. No touchscreen on NAV. Exterior styling might be to bland for some.

Overall I think this will be a home run for MB. Our dealer was completely sold out for the next 6 weeks.

More info to come as we get to know all the features.

Any comments on road noise? Wind noise? Ride quality? Handling? Seat comfort?

got ours 2 nights ago, and I just drove it for some errands tonight. Very smooth. What road noise. I didn't hear any nor even thought about it. Harmon Kardon Stereo sounds good!
Overall, very satisfied with the purchase. We came from a Q7 s line, so really appreciate the better suspension from the mL. Q7 was too firm and jaring on certain surfaces. WE didn't have the air suspension on that car either.

Thanks for the feedback. I am a little worried about whether I'll tire of the light and relatively low feedback steering(my ML is due in November). On my test drive I could feel it firm up as speed increased, but it's still overly assisted to my taste.

Congrats on the new vehicle. Looks nice.

I agree, at low speed the steering has too much assist. At 80mph, it felt OK. It would be nice if they gave you a few different settings.

The 755 paint code does have a touch of blue in it. I see it in the lighting on the assembly line.
Glad you enjoy the new W166!

Sounds like the ML is a hit, my dealer here doesn't have any left from his first 2 shipments.

Just logged the first 100 miles on mine. Fit and finish is excellent. Wind noise is non-existent and the handling is just fine. I am glad I didn't make a mistake and purchase a LR4 (I came close). Just for fun, I calculated my MPG...28.4!!!

Keep us posted as to the mileage as you get some more miles on the clock.
Also what features and options do you like best and why.
Thanks.

Mileage is now in the 31MPG range for highway. The ML seems to be running smoother every day. Transmission is great. Everything is great except that voice recognition on the hands free phone is not fantastic. Maybe I need to speak slower!!

I got the 6 month free trial of embrace - not impressed. I was on hold for ten minutes and gave up when I called with a tech question. The iphone app is cool though.

I am very suprised how quickly the ML starts blowing out warm air. The last few mornings, it has been in the 40's here and it let the engine warm up for 2 minutes before driving out of the driveway. Air from the vents is warm within 1 minute. Can't wait to see what it does when it is 20 below!!

I am looking forward to getting a 2013 when my current 09 ML350 lease is up. My 09 warms up quickly when the temp dips below 20. It takes about a mile before the warm air kicks in. I will say the heated seats warm up fast. I am not impressed with Mbrace either. After the trial period I did not purchase it. I do hope the navigation is better. I was more impressed with the portable nav that I borrowed from a friend when I went on vacation last year. Aside from that I love my 09. Best of luck with your new ML and keep us posted

Nice Car Enjoy. So far i hear a lot of complains about the steering on the new ML and the 2nd generation ML.
