NEW 2012 ML 350 LOOKS HORRIBLE
sorry to all the new 2012 ml owners but just seen it in person, thank god i bought the 2011 grand ml. it looks like a glk gained some weight. I think mb stole some Acura designs. I would love to get some other opinions

regardless of what the exterior opinion maybe (it does NOT look like a GLK, the GLK is ugly), the interior is a huge improvement over the W164.

Drive the new '12 Bluetec and you'll get over the looks quickly which are pretty subjective. Huge improvement in drivability and power.

Don't agree in the least. Sounds like you're trying to rationalize buying a vehicle that hsa been surpassed in almost every way (looks is subjective, so you can have your opinion). My W164, while still a nice vehicle, can't compare in performance or efficiency.

This certainly sounds like someone with a little remorse for buying the last-ditch effort on an outgoing MY.
The 2012 looks MUCH better in my opinion, plus all the points already raised above.

Your post really does not belong here irrespective of how you feel about your purchase. It is tantamount to an individual crashing a wedding and going straight to the groom to tell him that his bride and future wife "looks horribe"... I happen to think that the new ML looks great in and out and is a significant improvement over the outgoing old model.

You are entitled to your opinion. I agree with all the other posts. Please take it to last years forum. It doesn't belong here.

Personally, I wouldn't have even considered owning the old model, but I ordered one of the new ones. Much improved interior, more power, more torque, better economy, for about the same money. Pretty easy decision.
Do enjoy your old model, though!

Sat in one today, yeah can't say im feeling the ML350. Rear end looks like a Lincoln Navigator.
Thank god the ipod connection is now in the centre console.
Nav is better.
Hope the '63 looks a lot better than the base models

NEW 2012 ML 350 LOOKS HORRIBLE
Your title "horrible" could have been tempered a bit, ya think?

I have a 2011 ml blutec with a designo package. It is a great mercedes and handles very well for a suv.Had a 2007 eclass before. However this past Saturday I drove the 2012 ml blutec and it blew me away. It is so much more refined and. Much more enjoyable driving in the city than mine. The highway drive seemed the same except there is noticeably more power. There is no comparison though with the interior. It is so much nicer than the 2011. To me it is very much like the e class but with a lot more room. Hardly horrible

While styling is certainly a matter of taste, the 2012 is vastly superior in all accounts. I had the choice of a left over 2011 at a significant discount. I was tempted do buy it until I drove the 2012.
The syling is different for sure - horrible? I think not.

Besides who cares. It's an ML. It's not a sports car. All this debate about looks. IT is what it is. This is the product like it or dont' buy it and be left with yesterday's technology with a cheapo interior. It's your decision. It is very nice to drive though. We are definitely happy with the purchase.

Porsche Macan S SportDesign / Ex M-B's: 11 & 10 & 06 E350's, 02 S500
This guy sounds like me when the W212 was released, and I had bought my W211 just a year earlier.
Now 2 W212's later.... ![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
I'm not a fan of the ML, and I'm not the target demographic/buyer of it, however, after two terrible first generations, this one FINALLY looks like a proper M-B. It's not a catching design, and it's not meant to be revolutionary, so it's an easily digestable, solid design, which is a good thing, especially for this segment. It basically looks the way an M-B SUV should IMO. My only gripe are the "saggy bottom" rear tails, but they might need some time to digest (to understand), like was the case with the W212's tails.

Sorry, just saw the pictures of the 2012 "M" class. Personally I think "Pimp my ride" did the interior. Quilted Leather looks like cheap vinyl "contact". From Germanic refinement to japanese rice burner.

I have yet to see any of them on dealer lot's with the quilted leather anyway, so your disappointment will be limited considering most ML's will have normal MBtex or leather...

Looked at the 2012 ML diesel at the dealer the other day: first time in person. Looks better than the pictures and also bigger/heavier than the 2011.
Porky would be the right word.
Interior looks damn cool.
The whole package a bit bigger than I need, but open-minded if price is good.
The salesman said there is no incentives as all the MLs are "pre-bought"
Guess it means they are sold before they hit the floor.
Started bidding on a Cadillac V-series Wagon on e-bay today instead.
(new but 2011 model).
Different animals, but if the price is right, I'll take either..
