That is amazing that have a 500 HP 5,200 lbs SUV at 25 on highway.

Its the torque, pulling the 5K lbs seems like it is not an issue...shouldn't be the biatch goes from 0-60 in less than 5 secs.

A couple other things I noted:

• ML63 has only 265 section width tires vs 295 on the W164 version
• ML63 comes with all season tires vs summers on W164
• Fuel tanks are 27.7 gal vs 25 for W164

just the new slk 55 amg can desengage 4 cylinder to improve fuel economy.

well diesel has 620n\m at 1600 rpm

63 amg has 700n\m at 1700 rpm...the power at low rpm is the same but surely the amg will consume a lot more, especialli at higher rpm and also in idle.

Isnt it dumb how they won't change the name to ml55 just to appease buyer's egos despite actually having a 5.5 liter engine?

The 2012 ML63 comes with 295/35/21 when you select the "798" 21" AMG wheel option. Same wheel and tire package on the 2011's. I'm not 100% sure about the wheel offsets yet if they are the exactly same.

With the stock 20" wheel you get the 265/45/20 tires.

None of the model numbers match displacements, except for the 6 cylinder gas. Mfrs think turbos give them liberty to bump the numbers.

YYZ-E55

21" are available from the factory with 295s and summer tires. TBD if MBUSA offers them, but they'll be available for Canada.

The new motor shuts down when the vehicle is at rest if the transmission is in "C" mode. This is where the gas mileage is gained.

I am really surprised with the stock 265/45-20s all seasons on the 2012 ML63. It will be terribly traction limited with those narrow tires.

Impressive estimated mpg's though.

For North America, the ML 63 gets ECO start/stop. The rest of the engines do not. It does not impact EPA fuel economy ratings though as their test cycle does not allow for it.
