Tailgate opening angle limiter deletes itself?

Tailgate opening angle limiter deletes itself?
The second day we had the ML we set the opening angle so the gate wouldn't hit our garage door (nice feature). It's seemed to work well until last night when it continued past the limit and up hard against the steel handle on our garage door leaving a pretty good gash in the paint on the tailgate.
We tried to figure out if either of us could have accidentally erased the limit, but don't think we did considering how long you have to hold the button and neither of us remember ever hearing the two short tones to indicate that it's been deleted. I set the limit again and all seems to be working again, though our confidence in it is shot.
Anyone else had a problem with this?
