Fuel tank capacity

The spec comparison I posted previously https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...comparison.pdf shows the fuel tank as 27.7 gallons capacity. This differs from other sources which show it as 24.6, about the same as the W163, which is more credible.

Then I ran across this on the Daimler website, which shows an 20.6 gallon "standard" tank and 24.6 gallon "optional":

"The range calculated for a full tank of fuel is particularly impressive. With an NEDC consumption of 6.0 l/100 km, the ML 250 BlueTEC 4MATIC with standard 70-litre tank can cover around 1170 kilometres before needing to stop for fuel. If the vehicle is fitted with the optional 93-litre tank, a distance of up to 1500 kilometres is possible between refuelling stops.

Vehicle range at a glance:

------------------------ML 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC - ML 350 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY

NEDC combined l/100 km -------6.8 ----------------------------8.5
Fuel tank capacity in l ---------70 -------93 ---------------78-------93
Range per full tank of fuel km--1030-----1370-------------920------1090"

I'm guessing the 27.7 is an error, unless anyone has been able to refuel with more than 25 gallons?

I have never been able to put that much in. I have taken my car down to empty - actually it was below empty, and I was afraid I wouldnt even make it to the gas station.

Come to find out I still had 1.5 gallons left. Because I was still able to put in 23.x gallons in.

24.6 (93L) is standard for the 350s in North America.

Hard to understand where the 27.7 number on an official comparison chart came from.

Lets take 24.6 US gallons folks...I literally ran it empty [wife was going totally nuts, only my 6 yr old boy was supporting me - that daddy knows what's going on ]....then pumped in 23.4g @ 68deg F.
There is no way there were 4.3g left in that tank. I'll go with 24.6g...too bad they don't show how many gallons left instead of expected remaining miles to go [which switches to a gas pump icon when running low...not very useful].

While it is a W164, the wife put in 25.5 gallons in her Bluetec 350 a couple weeks ago. Not sure if it was on the verge of sucking the tank dry or if it is indeed a larger tank. Manual also says 24.6. After I told her what the manual said for tank size I think she fills up sooner now.
