2011 GL350, 2012 M350 Bluetech
New 2012 M350 Bluetech
So we picked up my wife’s new M350 Bluetech this week. We ordered it in December and it finally arrived. It is Dakota brown, P2, etc, etc. Pretty hard loaded. I have a 2011 GL 350 Bluetech and absolutely love it, so I convinced my wife to switch to the new M diesel.
We really like this new M. The updated/enhanced engine is great. Gone are any flat spots or laggy moments which I have in my 2011 GL. The steering is much lighter (I am so-so on this point, but the wife likes it). The interior is improved. It feels a bit more plasticy to me, but I do like the cove lighting behind the wood trim and we ordered the MBTex dash, which should be standard IMO. The seats are more ergo and the adjusters are on the door now. The info center all around is improved. There is a nice navigator wheel now and the HK sound system is much improved. The interface for the iPod and the built in hard drive are just brilliant.
I am not in love with the styling of the new M, but that is just my taste. Also, the car was delivered with a slight squeak in the dash. So, we will have to take it back as those little squeaks just annoy the ever living crap out of me.
Personally I know I will begin to loath my 2011 GL after more seat time in my wife’s 2012 M. The power is that much smoother and stronger. The M feels like a rocket, just amazing for a diesel that gets 30MPG on the highway. Also, the improvements to the info center and sound system will quickly eat at me
