Forthcoming ML variant & engine

Another X6-like vehicle doesn't thrill me too much, but the twin turbo 3.5L would be nice if it makes its way into the ML!

This idea completely flopped on the Acura ZDX, and the BMW X6..what makes MB think this product is going to be successful. It's not stylish, practicle, or economical.

I am not so sure of C&D's prediction of the turbo 3.5 V6...I find it very unlikely for MB to produce an all new motor for this vehicle, unless MB already had plans for producing such motor to be used across the board in all their vehicles.

I do like those huge wheels though.

Its pretty but lacking in fuctionality just like the X6. I drove one of those and less room in the back than I would want to live with.

The bi-turbo V6 will work its way across the line-up in short order. I believe it will be coined a "400".

Surprises me it is only listed at 335 hp; must be strong on torque.

+1
twin turbos and only 10% more HP than the new DI V6. What's the point of
all that complexity and expense for such little gain???

But what would it's application be? To replace the V8s?

It would be in between the naturally-aspirated 6 and turbo V8s. So, ML350, 400, 550, 63.

Volvo already gets 325hp from a 3 liter straight 6. 335hp from a 3.5 liter engine would be...yawn. Old news.

350 would die, but you'll see a proliferation of 4-cylinder turbos... including diesel BlueTECs; ie: GLK 250, ML 250.

Makes sense, as this is the direction BMW and others are going. Of course, they already have the ML250 BlueTEC in Europe and elsewhere.
