About to get ML350 BlueTech but freaked out about hessitation
I'm was planning on picking up my new ML350 BT this weekend but I started to read about these hesitation issues. I'm having serious 2nd thoughts.
I'm currently in an '09 Acura MDX with low miles and the Acura deal has given me an offer to buy it back at a great price.
I've been very excited to get this new ML. What should I do? Keep the Acura? Get the gas version. The car is for my wife who is driving with my 3 month old baby girl so having a hesitation issues seems like a terrible idea.
Please help...especially from the people who are very familiar with this issue.

I can only speak o my vehicle. I do not experience the hesitation every day. When it does occur, it only last about a minute... if that. I found that if I do not accelerate too fast after comming out of the driveway (which the neighbour prefer), it does not happen. By the time I get to the stop sign 400 meters (aprox 1/4 mile) further... all is good.
I remember in the old days that we were told to warm up the vehicle before going. We had to do the same with our diesel trucks when I was in the Army... mind you this was 20 years + ago.

My experience is the same as yours as it doesn't happen everyday.
But when you hear current or past owners of the previous ML Diesel model say that they did not have this problem, it makes you think….

The hesitation/bucking that I experience with my Bluetec *is* a bit annoying but is *far* from being earth shattering. As some have noted regarding this problem it completely disappears after a minute or so...which is the case with mine as well.
If,somewhere down the road,I find that it has damaged the drivetrain in any way I'll be quite upset...if not,I'm absolutely willing to live with it.

The only diesel I've owned as my daily driver was an F250. Nothing major that turns me off of diesels: fewer filling stations, noisier, tempermental in cold, and slower acceleration. If towing, nothing Id rather have than a diesel. But, given a choice like an ML350 gas or diesel and no towing, I'd always take the gas for the reasons mentioned.
That being said, both are fine choices.

Love this thing. Had hesitation this morning. Took it in because something major is loose on the drivers door as it rattles loudly when closed. I'm prepared to wait a while as we are into summer. Advisor said to wait as he expects it to be further updated. As an aside my 20" Amg wheel on the front passenger side got major scrapeage on the curb while it was auto parking itself... I'm waiting to see if it will be repaired out of my pocket or theirs...

can post a video on youtube? for us to see and evidence to use for your claim to have the wheel replaced.

Holy smokes! Ditto on making a video of it self destructing. . .was there anything unusual about the parking spot? Piece of concrete out of place or on a curve or anything that helps at least understand why it hit the curb?
