2012 ML350 oil filter - getting at it ...

How do you remove the engine cover to get at the oil filter?

I'm not sure how it comes off?

Thanks

On the gas engine there is a seam line on the front left section right over the filter. Can someone confirm if this section is easily removable? I don't know why else that seam would be there.
