Price?

Hi;
I've using Audis and Acuras for last 10 years. Now, I am going to switch to MB. Attachment is the quote that I built from MB website. What is the reasonable price that I should pay? I live in Las Vegas, NV

thanks for you input.

Not sure if you have any discounts that you can apply, the most common is Costco (usual runs under invoice & would be well worth the $500 members fee). Then if you have another qualifying discount, there are several that vary, but usually USAA is the best and right now they are about another $3k off (but you or a family member must be a member which would mean they were in the military). Just some ideas for you to work with.

Both my brothers were in the Navy, does this mean I could USAA discount? I'm guess this would not work, but it would be great if it did!

I would have your brother contact USAA, My father in law was a member which meant my wife qualified and had her homeowners thru them. When we married, I in turn automatically became a member. So it might be as easy as your bother listing you o his insurance or as a relative and thus in turn you may be able to become a member. There are usually ways to address things but you may have to think outside the box

Sorry, Costco is about a $50 fee not the $500 I previously posted

Indeed, USAA is the best if you can qualify, since it is different than other 'fleet' programs like CostCo, Amex, or AAA. The others involved a pre-set discount that they've negotiated with the particular dealer. For CostCo I found it different between dealerships, ranging from $1,500 under invoice to $500 under.

However, for USAA, USAA sends the dealership the discount they have extended to you. For example, on an ML I was told it is $3,000. So, for the dealer, this is $3000 guaranteed profit. So, to be competitive, they might give you another $1000 off invoice and they are still making money.

So, while I have found some dealers don't do the Costco-type discounts, those who don't still do USAA because of how USAA subsidizes the deal. When you go in to buy the car, the dealer contacts USAA to verify your full membership (and to make sure they are getting the 'rebate' from them).

If you didn't serve in the military, but one of your parents did, they need to join USAA and then appoint you a full member. If they pass away before they do this, you cannot become a full member and get the $3000 dealer subsidy. USAA will still try to help non-full members to get a good deal, but it's nothing special ... it would be just like going to TrueCar.com. (In fact, USAA's auto buying webpages are powered by TrueCar).

Good price on a Demo?

I was just quoted 48000 +TL on a 2012 ML350 Bluetec Premium 1 + running boards. It has 8000 miles on it. Any thoughts? Is the price fair?

Also, if you have been a member of the Mercedes Benz club for more than a year you can get a voucher from them for an additional 1K off the price.

STC, Greg is correct. It is called a loyalty certificate. Make sure you read the terms and conditions carefully.

Thanks to BChiang I finally got my wife a 2012 ML350 yesterday.

Arctic White/Black, P1, Lighting pkg, Keyless Go, Lane Tracking pkg, and Parking Assist

MSRP:58,135
Paid: 53,000 + tax and doc.

My deal wasn't as good as BChiang because dealer told me the conquest has dropped from $2k to $1k. But this is the only dealership that offered me this amount discounts off Msrp. Other dealerships are offering me either Invoice or $2K off Msrp. They don't seem like they want to lower too much on the ML this month somehow.

News flash won't be the same car NY has cold climate content that GA cars don't. You are likely running into the reality phase where the dealers have realised how popular the ML has become and some of the big discounts are gone. The interest rate has stayed up too. Tell him u want a 13 same price. If you don't NEED now wait. This is obviously already on the lot its summertime and he wants the $$$ not many MB dealers near you I guess.
Try asking for a service pkg included. That's an easier discount for them.

Good Idea. There are a few . I have to try a couple more. THey had quite a few on their lot (14). The second dealer didnt have many on lot. I am not going with them .

Didn't know that! What content specifically? I know ML's shipped to different countries have different content, but I didn't know that those shipped to different areas within the country had differing content.

In May I had a 2012 ML350 routed to me here in Texas from the assembly line. It was originally going to a dealer near Boston. My dealer did not have (and would not be getting in) a car in a Diamond White with almond/beige interior, lighting package and the Premium Package 2. Those were the three things I wanted and the rest of the options I did not care much about. My sales associate found one just coming off line that met my basic criteria and traded invoices with the Boston dealer for one of his dealer ordered cars coming off line.

Generally, ML350s shipped to this part of Texas have several features almost always included, such as tow hitch. I believe most come with Continental Tires also whereas the northern cars come with Dunlop tires. My car had Dunlop tires and also came with tire locks and heated steering wheel. As you can imagine, the heated steering wheel is something you would never see shipped to Texas unless it was requested for some reason on a special build order. I guess the tire locks would be only for big city orders as I would never need them out here where I live, at least I hope I don't. I heard the Dunlop tires are better suited to snow than the Continentals but I don't know that for a fact.

Sometimes to get what you want right away you have to take a few options like that which you normally would not order or even care about so as to get the primary packages and colors you want. It was no big deal for me to get the "northern" package and the car runs in this 100 degree Texas heat as well as I could hope for.
