Either way it's probably going to make a mess. What is the end result you're looking for? Just a clean surface?
On my GM SUV, another online forum had someone who was offering vinyl overlays with the vehicle logo to cover the seatbelt warnings on the visors. It vastly improved the look. There are vendors on eBay who will make custom stickers with whatever you desire. Maybe we could find someone who will make them and provide contact info here. It's a cleaner solution.
I don't have my vehicle yet and so can't determine the exact size needed.

I know this sounds crazy but CRC Clean-A-Carb (toluene) works well. Does not harm velour, so I believe it will be safe on the visor.

When I have removed labels in the past on vinyl, glass or even painted surfaces (not on visors) I used the hairdryer method first and then removed the remaining adhesive that gets left behind with WD-40.
I just spray a little onto a cloth and work it in, I have never had a problem with it damaging the surface or removing the color.
Obviously try it on an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it doesn’t damage anything. I would be shocked if it did.

Decided to remove mine on the W164.
Drivers side on the mirror cover - clear label came of with slight sticky feel that cleaned up with metho.
Passenger side - coloured label cover came off leaving all scipt and white back ground and yellow highlights clearly legible. I rubbed this with my thumb and the gum balled up leaving a perfectly clean surface. I did rub with metho, mainly for the smell and perhaps a sip.

I worked for years in a large hospital's ER (I think you Aussies call the "A&E" Departments) and we'd see chronic alcoholics from time to time who had downed methanol in desperation. It's absolutely lethal in surprisingly small amounts.I know you're kidding but it's wise to be careful with that stuff.

And one reason for our preference for diesel, is the difficulty getting PULP in outback regions. The only petrol available is OPAL, which is 91 octane low aromatic fuel promoted for the anti sniffing program.
